News from the Enviro Team
As 2024 draws to a close, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the students for their invaluable help in implementing our environmental projects around the school. We successfully obtained a Coastline Credit Union Grant to revamp the beautiful fig tree area into an educational space where students can learn to care for birds, bees, frogs, and butterflies. This project will continue to evolve throughout 2025, and our families are always welcome to help and offer suggestions. Special thanks to Mrs Patrice Martin who helps with lunchtime gardening on Wednesdays.
In addition, as a school, we have successfully diverted boxes of batteries, old stationery, used stamps, and drink containers, raising $523.60 from our garbage collection. Each day, we fill at least a 20L bucket with food scraps, which are saved from going to landfill and fed to our worm farms and local chickens.
Thank you to the families who have donated their 10c containers to us through the Envirobank at South Kempsey. All donations are converted into Bunnings gift cards, which are used to purchase supplies for our school vegetable gardens.
Wishing everyone a safe and joyful Christmas! I look forward to continuing to teach our students about caring for the environment and living sustainably in 2025.

10c RETURN AND EARN RECYCLING
School drop off is no longer available.
We have recently updated our account details for our 10c Return and Earn Recycling
Program.
Families are asked to conveniently take their 10c drink containers straight to the High Speed Depot Drop Off at 47 South Street, South Kempsey whenever it suits you.
The School Office has small cards with our NEW Crunch Account details on it to keep in your car (or use this bar code).
All proceeds are used to assist with our St Joseph’s veggie garden and related learning activities.
Collection bags are still available in the Canteen Foyer. Children who recycle by visiting the High Speed Drop Off will still receive a prize from the Enviro Prize Box (see Mrs Hagger in the Canteen). Just be sure to bring in your docket to Mrs Tarrant.

Please feel free to drop these into the bins located in the canteen foyer.
